Installation of an extension to the current Dry Sand Modules
Installation of an extension to the current Dry Sand Modules
New Zealand Steel commissioned IMG to install an extension to the current Dry Sand Modules at their Taharoa Mine Site. This phase was two modules contained in one super structure. The scope of the project was to design and install all the process equipment and commission a company to supply the super structure to accommodate the process.
The project was managed internally and supported by contractors. Schedules were developed that gave accuracy to progress within the project team. IMG were faced with several challenges as the scope for ancillary equipment changed a number of times, such as plastic pipe and the runs. Also, the methodology changed during install for certain process equipment due to experiences in other plants that gave greater efficiency. These were overcome via experience, good project management skills and a ‘can do’ attitude.
